Stoic Sunday | 12.11.22 | Comparison is the Thief of Joy

Life, one of the largest mysteries that we as a human species have. Is there a purpose, a goal, a destination that we are striving for? Questions that need answers, yet we have an answer with no question. Time always wins, it is finite and unchangeable. One second in time will never happen again exactly as it just had.

The quote for todays Stoic Sunday is from Steve Jobs, founder of Apple. "Your time is limited, don't waste it living someone else's life". A lot of times, people get caught up in the fact that their coworker has a car that's the latest model, or their new house has a larger yard, that kid in my class has a more expensive winter coat. Yet what we don't understand, is the amount of time we spend in comparison with other people. Remember, time is finite, we are given the gift of life so that we can experience it, not sulk over another's.

Our founder, Brenden Meyer, states a time where his comparison of a peer put him in a state that didn't allow him to enjoy his life as he was thinking "that person had it so much better than me". Notice the tension, had not has, we all have the ability to turn this life comparison into a life of living.
